IMAGINARY ROOMS VOL 1 :: A SELECTION OF NEW COMPOSITIONS CREATED BY ARTISTS FROM VARIOUS SOUND-MAKING BACKGROUNDS AND GEOGRAPHIC LOCATIONS. SOURCE MATERIAL PROVIDED BY CHICAGO DRUMMER AND COMPOSER TIM DAISY

REMOTE SOUND COLLABORATION INSPIRED BY A UNIQUE PERIOD IN TIME

"I sent over some sounds which I created and recorded on marimba, drums, and percussion, to a list of artists from diverse sound-making backgrounds and geographic locations. I asked them each to construct, reimagine, add to, subtract from.....to build a new piece (or set of pieces) using the source material provided. My aim is to provide multiple perspectives on the art of remote composition building during this time of lockdown and "non-togetherness."
I am thrilled by the results and I hope you will be too."

This material will be released in two volumes in digital format; a physical cd release is on the horizon for the fall of 2021

Tom Burris writes for Free Jazz Blog. He has been a founding member of several unknown music collectives and projects, including the mighty Sea Krowns, which he co-founded with Alix Cain. He lives happily with his lovely wife, Cindy, and their beloved French bulldog, Lemon, in Lapel, Indiana. He is grateful to only be a few hours away from Chicago, but doesn't get to visit nearly often enough. His daughter Natalie plays bass in the L.A. band Easy Love. His other daughter Shaddai attends college in Kingston, Jamaica. He has two grandchildren, Khali and Alex. He also just realized that at a certain age, family members become a part of one's bio. He also misses going to free jazz & improv shows at The Spot Tavern in Lafayette, IN. (Hi Paul!)
