A first time meeting between Chicago based improvisers Kyle Price on turntables and Tim Daisy on drums and percussion. Exploring their shared interests in sound making, which is informed by a broad range of styles from punk to new music to free jazz and more, Mood Music presents two inspired, long form electro acoustic situations. Recorded on one magical evening at the Experimental Sound Studio in Chicago.

This most recent contribution to the Relay Records catalog further documents the growing body of creative work coming out of the windy city's improvised music community.

Bio: Kyle Gregory Price is a genre-fluid composer, percussionist, and turntablist, raised in upstate New York. Following college and a decade in the punk and new music scenes on the east coast, he moved to Chicago in 2010 to expand his community and opportunities for performing and creating. He has worked with organizations including Third Coast Percussion, the Merce Cunningham Dance Troupe, and NON:op Opera. Kyle has performed at the MCA, Art Institute of Chicago, Thirsty Ears Festival and in Experimental Sound Studio’s 2018 Oscillations as a solo turntablist. Most recently his compositions have been heard at Access Contemporary Music’s Sound of Silent Film Festival and Sonic Walkabout. Kyle now teaches piano and composition at ACM. In 2014 he also co-founded, with Deirdre Harrison, the intergenerational literacy chamber band The Lucky Trikes, who have recorded two albums at ESS.

Tim Daisy is an American drummer and composer working in the fields of improvised and composed music. Tim moved to Chicago in 1997 and since that time has performed, recorded, and toured with many national and international improvised musicians and ensembles. He was a member of the Vandermark 5 from 2002 to 2010.

He has also performed with Dave Rempis, Jeb Bishop, Mars Williams, Steve Swell, Jaimie Branch, Katherine Young, Fred Lonberg-Holm, James Falzone, Russ Johnson, Katinka Kleijn, Elizabeth Harnik, Christof Kurzmann, Ikue Mori, Rafael Toral, Mikolaj Trzaska, Per Ake Holmlander, Darren Johnston, Havard Wiik, Jason Stein and Michael Zerang.

In 2011 he received the New Music America Composers Assistance Award and in 2011, 2012 and 2017 the ASCAP Plus Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers . He has recorded over one hundred and thirty albums as a sideman or leader for labels including Relay, (which he owns and operates), Not Two, Clean Feed, Astral Spirits, Aerophonic, Audiographic, Sonorus, Trost, Utech, New World, and Okka Disk.
