Relay Recordings proudly presents the first document in its new "basement sessions" series:

Informal open-ended improvisations recorded in the friendly confines of Madhouse Studios in Evanston, IL.

This first release brings together a freewheeling quartet of folks who have strong connections to the Chicago and/or Boston creative music scenes. Longtime improvised music veterans Jeb Bishop (trombone) and Tim Daisy (percussion) meet up with two of the younger generation of inventive sound makers: Andrew Clinkman on guitar and Brittany Karlson on bass.

Three long-form improvisations cover a wide territory of sonic terrain, from quiet textures to full-on cacophony and everything else in between. Never standing still for too long, sounds unfold organically, pushing and pulling, glued together by controlled intention and focused listening.
