Colors by Shade is the debut recording of the 'Red Door Ensemble' a Chicago based new music group whose core members include: vocalist Amanda DeBoer Bartlett, guitarist and violinist Peter Maunu, and marimbist and percussionist Tim Daisy.

These ten improvisations were recorded on one sunny afternoon at the Experimental Sound Studio in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood.

All of the music on this recording is dedicated to the great American poet Anne Sexton.
