Aram Shelton and Tim Daisy both met and began their careers by immersing themselves into Chicago's fertile creative music scene in the early 2000s. Logging hundreds of rehearsals, performances and gigs together in established groups including Dragons 1976, Arrive and Ken Vandermark's Crisis Ensemble, as well as performing in many ad hoc improvised ensembles of various configurations all over the city, it was these early, formative years in Chicago that set the tone and ignited the spark which has produce more than two decades of creative work both as collaborators and with their own respective ensembles.

Although the two musicians don't work as frequently as they used to (with Aram moving on to explore the sonic terrain in Oakland, Copenhagen and Budapest, respectively, while Tim holds the fort down in Chicago) It is quite clear from this recording that their time spent away, developing new ideas and working with fresh blood, has only enhanced the synergy and level of engagement between them.

Aram Shelton is an improviser and composer who performs on saxophone, clarinets, and live electronics.

He plays with a distinct, harmonically rich sound and develops musical thoughts through constant motion, tonal shifts and complex sounds alongside clear melodic and rhythmic constructs. His vocabulary utilizes the range of extended techniques including multiphonics and harmonics, circular breathing, wind sounds and an exploration of the outer ranges of the instrument.

He focuses on creative music grounded in and influenced by the rich history of avant-jazz and free improvisation. He's been a member of the creative music communities in Chicago, the San Francisco Bay Area, Copenhagen and Budapest.

Tim Daisy is an American drummer and composer working in the fields of improvised and composed music. Tim moved to Chicago in 1997 and since that time has performed, recorded, and toured with many national and international improvised musicians and ensembles. He was a member of the Vandermark 5 from 2002 to 2010.

He has also performed with Dave Rempis, Jeb Bishop, Mars Williams, Steve Swell, Jaimie Branch, Katherine Young, Fred Lonberg-Holm, James Falzone, Mark Feldman,Russ Johnson, Katinka Kleijn, Ikue Mori, Elizabeth Harnik, Christof Kurzmann, Ikue Mori, Rafael Toral, Mikolaj Trzaska, Per Ake Holmlander, Darren Johnston, Havard Wiik, Jason Stein and Michael Zerang.

In 2011 he received the New Music America Composers Assistance Award and in 2011, 2012 and 2017 the ASCAP Plus Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers . He has recorded over one hundred and thirty albums as a sideman or leader for labels including Relay, (which he owns and operates), Not Two, Clean Feed, Astral Spirits, Aerophonic, Audiographic, Sonorus, Trost, Utech, New World, and Okka Disk.
